HNYBM fashion boutique & brand will be joining Detroit’s hottest weekly party, ON DECK, on August 14 for the official launch of the long-awaited online shop. HNYBM Street Boutique specializes in vintage sportswear as well as streetwear, accessories, custom designs, & art. A fashion presentation will showcase an example of the items available for purchase at the online boutique. For a day of fashion & fun, come chill & enjoy yourself!
On Deck is a weekly party held every Sunday afternoon at Detroit’s Magic Stick Rooftop. Along with the fresh air, drink specials, games, & even a pool, are the fine tunes coming from Detroit’s greatest: DJ Sicari (5 Ela), DJ Dez (formally Slum Village), & DJ Skeez (Conglomerate DJs). ‘Festival of Arts’ Sept. 16-18, in Bloomfield, MI- Last Call for Entries
BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP— The annual “Festival of Arts” in Bloomfield Township, Michigan at the Nativity Episcopal Church, will take place September 16-18, 2011. 21220 West 14-Mile Road, Bloomfield, MI 48301.
“We will have a gala opening reception on Friday, September 16, at 7:00 pm to mingle with the presenters and special guests,” said Henryka Olbrot. Olbrot is president of the Lakeland Society of Artists which supports the show. She is an active art ambassador in theMonroe,Oakland,Macomb andWayneCounty areas.
All manner of disciplines will be accepted, including textiles, paintings, sculpture, photography, glass and pottery. Also included will be acrylics, jewelry, watercolors, fibers, graphics and surface art. The last call for artists has been extended to August 14th.
Deborah Odette, formerly of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York will supervise display and hanging
One of the special prizes will be an artist’s proof vase, sculpted by local artist Patricia Auerbach of Berkley, Michigan. Potter, Robert Nixon has donated a unique clay presentation dish.
Nativity Episcopal Church has been a longtime supporter of the arts and has had design influence from the Cranbrook School of the Arts. The church’s striking stained glass panels were created by Margaret Cavanaugh in 1982.

Abandoned In Detroit - Summer 2011 Photoshoot
Sunday, August 7 the 24th photoshoot for the fashion showcase project was held. The turnout was light, but we made the most of the day. The fashions of the shoot were self-styled, and the final look is in the genre of Steampunk. Locations were James Scott Mansion, Cass Tech High School, Masonic Temple, and the Dequindre Cut.
Thank you to the mother and daughter models - Tracie and Sydni, and to fellow photographer Hersheal Thomas.
